Erin Healey Scores Game Winner To Defeat Inferno
11/11/2011 - The battle for who could stand the longest
was won by The Wave. After Katie Sparkman showed up halfway through
the 1st half, The Wave had the advantage of 1 sub to none for Inferno.
The score was 1-1 at the half. Bill Patton scored for The Wave and
Kevin Lindstrom for Inferno. Erin Healey put Inferno away with her
first goal of the season.
Goals From Brian and Rachel Chaput Crush Jags Bid
For Unbeaten Season
11/04/2011 - The Wave's Brian Chaput opened the scoring
against the division leaders and undefeated Jags. Bill Patton had
the assist. Jags answered with 2 on a woman's goal. Rachel Chaput
scored the winning goal unassisted late in the game. Jags had previously
allowed only 4 goals in 5 games. Brilliant saves by Sean Martin
preserved the victory.
Steve Drake Scores Twice in 2-2 Tie
10/18/2011 - Everybody rose to the occasion. Marvelous
effort. The Wave actually led 2-0 until late in the 2nd half despite
being short on men.
The Wave Lose 2-0 to Rush
10/08/2011 - Playing 6 women and 4 men for most of the
game The Wave held Rush to a 0-0 tie. With just a few minutes left
Rush ended The Wave's hopes of preserving that result by scoring
a womens goal. Sergio Saucedo once again did wonders in the goal.
Everybody that made it to the game stepped it up. Steve Drake played
injured and still managed to create chances. We basically played
with no subs. Technically we had 1 but both injured players were
subbing for each other leaving almost everybody else to play the
whole game.
Katie Sparkman did a phenomenal job keeping their
winger at bay the whole game. One got away, that's soccer. No Shame
there.
Oh and Jena would have scored but she fell down. :
) Sorry Jena, I just had to poke fun.
We have to take a team pic. Maybe next Friday.
The Wave Defeat Rush 2-1
10/04/2011 - Losing 1-0 in the 2nd half Bill Patton
sent a brilliant weighted pass behind the defense to the onrushing
Rachel Chaput who collected the pass and beat the Rush keeper
with a shot to the far post for the winning goal. As he has
done in all 3 games, Sergio Saucedo has kept The Wave in the
game with outstanding work in front of the Goal.
The Wave Tie Again
9/30/2011 - Brian Chaput scored with the assist from Bill
Patton in the 1-1 draw against Just Did It
The Wave Tie Inferno 1-1
9/23/2011 - Brian Chaput scored to tie the game on an assist
from Rachel Chaput.
Former Players Return
8/6/2011 - Diane O'Donnell and Sergio Saucedo return after many
many many seasons. Jennifer Cooper, Natalie Smith and Katie
Sparkman return from surgery and/or rehab. Welcome back!
Valient Effort
Spring 2011 - This was a horrible day for a soccer game for
The Wave. There were more players missing from this game than
actually played in the game. More than half of the players that
did show up sacrificed to be at the game. The Martin duo saved
the day by showing up earlier than expected and prevented the
forfeit. Then they both proceeded to play with superhuman effort.
Celeste Martin despite being double and triple teamed for most
of the game and still recovering from injury managed to maintain
posession for long periods of time until another player moved
to give her a passing option. Her husband Sean Martin was equally
superhuman. When the Captain Rodney Yoshida was injured, Sean
covered his central midfield position as well as Rodney's outside
back position. He even ventured into the attacking 3rd more
than anybody else. Dan Veshia only gave up 2 goals. Unfortunately
they were both women goals so the score was 4-0. The whole team
did great and gave a valient effort, but the Martin's were super.
